Here's a bit of local news from Castle Ward, folks! Plans are in motion at Woodlands on Great Quarry to give a well-loved beech tree a bit of a trim. This isn't just any old pruning; it's to manage regrowth and ensure it clears a telephone line, all under a Tree Preservation Order.
Beech (T1) ? Reduce overall crown by up to 2 metres, including lateral spread reduction on all aspects, pruning back to suitable growth points to maintain a natural shape and balanced canopy. Works to include removal of deadwood and reduction of end weight throughout the crown. Reason for works: To manage regrowth following previous pollarding, reduce end weight and sail effect, and provide adequate clearance from the overhead telephone line running through the canopy (TPO P1/201/367)
